LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday met former premier Nawaz Sharif to condole with him on the death of his wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.
Rehman Malik, Qamar Zaman Kaira and other PPP leaders accompanied them during their visit to Jati Umra.
The PPP leaders condoled with the former premier and members of his family on the demise of the former first lady and paid tribute to her for her contribution to the country and democracy.
Speaking about Begum Kulsoom, Mr Zardari said she was a brave woman. Her contribution to the country and democracy will be remembered, he added.
The former premier said it was painful for him that he could not spend some time with her ailing wife in her last days.
Kulsoom Nawaz breathed her last at a hospital on September 11 in London after a prolonged illness. The political career of the former first lady remains far from any controversy, unlike embroilment of her family members in different cases.
