‘Good to see you’: CJP Bandial clarifies his comment for Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial Tuesday clarified his greeting extended to former prime minister Imran Khan during the hearing of a case against the latter’s arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust case, ARY News reported.

During a hearing of a civil case today, Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial stated that he uses the phrase “good to see you” to greet everyone.

The CJP Bandial had an interaction with lawyer Asghar Sabzwari. He initiated the exchange by saying, “I am pleased to see you as you have appeared in my court after a considerable period.”

“I had faced a lot of criticism for using the phrase during Imran Khan’s appearance in Al-Qadir arrest case,” Justice Bandial said, adding that he says “good to see you” to everyone as a respect.

Umar Ata Bandial clarified that his comment “good to see you Imran Khan” carried no political implication.

CJP clarification comes after he said the same to PTI chief Imran Khan during his appearance before the apex court on May 11, a move that had faced criticism from political leaders.
