KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday hailed Chief Minister Balochistan his cabinet and the people of the province for supporting the democratic system.
The former president was speaking the Chief Minister of Balochistan Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo and his cabinet members at a reception hosted by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
He said that the democratic change in the government was the manifestation of political maturity of the province and elected representatives. He added that the Balochistan assembly brought a change in their government through a proper democratic process and didn’t derail the system.
Zardari said that it has been the tradition of PPP to support the rights of people of smaller provinces. He recalled during his tenure as president when the Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan programme was launched, and the NFC Award was given with multiple criteria providing substantial benefit to the people of Balochistan.
He also took credit for giving new identification to Pakhtuns by renaming Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, and worked to create southern province for the people of Seraiki belt of Punjab.
He said that the Balochistan is rich in mineral resources. “The people of Balochistan are sensible, politically awaken and are keen to reap the fruits of democracy. We have to work together for the prosperity of Balochistan and its people,” he said.

CM Balochistan thanked PPP co-chairmen Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto and his Sindh counterpart for welcoming the democratic change in the Balochistan government
“You are politically sagacious and a true democratic leader in the country who knows the art how to keep the democracy on the track though whatever situation there may be,” he said addressing Zardari.
He appreciated the PPP leadership and people of Sindh for their moral support and good wishes for the new Balochistan government.
Earlier, CM Sindh welcomed his Balochistan counterpart and his cabinet and said that Karachi has the honour to be the second home of people of Balochistan, as several leaders, tribal heads, bureaucrats, agriculturists, educationists and other have homes in other districts of Sindh also.
He said the the people of Sindh have always stood with their Baloch brothers through thick and thin. Zardari said that Baloch leaders live in Sindh and do politics in Balochistan and are like family.
