Zahid Hamid challenges special court decision

Zahid Hamid in a petition in the court pleaded that former president Musharraf had proclaimed emergency in November 2007 as the Army Chief but the special court has also declared him (Zahid Hamid) as the co-accused.

Hamid pleaded to the court that he was not an abettor in the decision and sought the court to declare the 21st November decision of the special court as null and void.

The special court, headed by

Justice Faisal Arab of the Sindh High Court (SHC), on November 21 directed the federal government to implicate former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, former federal minister Zahid Hamid and Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar as co-accused in the high treason case against Musharraf.

The order was passed on a petition, filed by Musharraf’s  legal team, seeking to include those who abetted the retired general in proclamation of a state of emergency in the country.
