‘Women’s Day teaches us to give respect to women’: Yasmeen Rashid

LAHORE: On the eve of International Women’s Day, Punjab’s Minister for Health Dr. Yasmeen Rashid has said that the day gave people a message to give respect to women.

According to a statement released from the ministry, Dr. Yasmeen Rashid said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government believed in effective representation of women in every sector of life for national development.

She said, “No religion except Islam ensures the provision of complete rights to the womenfolk.” The minister said that the inclusion of women in the national mainstream by providing them equal opportunities was the priority agenda of the government as women were half of the total population.

 Yasmeen Rashid further stated that all out resources were being utilized by the Punjab government in the health sector, according to the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, for ensuring the health of mother and child.

She said, “Pakistani women as a mother, sister, daughter and wife is a foundation of society.”

Earlier, en a message on International Women’s Day, Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi on Friday said women played crucial role in any society.

“Nations are built when mothers, daughters and sisters are respected. Without respect to women we cannot become a nation,” Shehryar Khan Afridi said while addressing an event in Peshawar.
