Akhtar was produced in anti-terrorism court on Saturday for hearing of the case pertaining to May 12 carnage in Karachi.
Waseem Akhtar talking to media outside the court premises said that all charges against him are bailable and asked for bail in the interest of Karachi so as he could serve the city.
Akhtar said it is likely he had made some mistakes in the past but it is now time to move on. He also disowned the anti-Pakistan statement of Altaf Hussain.
He called the Director General Rangers as his elder. He said Sindh has got a diligent chief minister in Murad Ali Shah.
He claimed that the charges have been fabricated against him.
The counsels completed arguments over the bail petition in the court.
The judge has summoned investigation officers of the case on September 22nd. The prosecution counsel will also give arguments in the next hearing.
The police had submitted charge-sheet against Karachi mayor Akhtar and other accused on Thursday in May 12, 2007 carnage in the city.
