US again urges Pakistan ‘do more’ against terrorism

US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Olson, in his testimony in a hearing of Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, has said that Pakistan is taking effective measures against terrorism but more steps needed to be taken.

“Pakistan’s role in the war against terrorism is admirable but the country needs to take more steps against it,” Olson said.

Olson added, “Pakistan should be able to prove that its soil is not being used against neighboring countries.”

The US envoy went on to say that the South Asian country should take indiscriminate action against all terrorist groups in the region.

He welcomed Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif’s statement about getting rid of the menace of terrorism from the region.
