US created political crisis in Pakistan because of CPEC: Fazl

QUETTA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman on Thursday said considering the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a challenge, the United States has created political crisis in Pakistan, ARY News reported.

“America considers the CPEC a peril for her,” he said while addressing a party convention in Quetta.

He said never in the history of Pakistan has ever been so much inflation following a minister budget, such has occurred in the current government.

Maulana said within one day dollar rose from Rs120 to Rs137 which was worrisome.

Expressing apprehensions on the recent elections, he said such elections should be kept in a museum. “How can the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) say that the elections were transparent? Unquestionably, their conscience would also be blaming them,” he said.

Taking a dig at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, Fazl said he was not even ready to call the government a government. They wanted to make the Pakistani economy a servant to the West and destroy it, he said.

Earlier last month, while rejecting the accusation of the JUI-F chief, the ECP maintained that the General Elections 2018 were fair, transparent and impartial.

The ECP spokesperson said: “Accusations lacking evidence are deplorable and contrary to the facts. Not respecting the mandate of public without any justification is against the rules of democracy.”

The election commission spokesman stressed that the tradition of pressurising national institutions should end. “The ECP is an independent institution and will not tolerate any sort of pressure,” the spokesperson said.

“If anyone has reservations over the elections, he should file petition as per procedure,” he said.
