ISLAMABAD: Expressing extreme annoyance over Kasur incident, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah said Punjab government’s tall claims of unfailing security arrangements fell flat after the incident, ARY News reported on Friday.
Speaking on floor of the house, the opposition leader said the provincial government has been failed to provide protection to the citizens.
Calling upon the house to play its due role, Shah said the parliament needs effective results now.
“The house must be informed about implementation on our recommendations. The government is lukewarm in making a response to the opposition’s proposals,” he underlined.
On the occasion, he also demanded the crime figures from all provinces to be submitted in the parliament.
Seven-year-old Zainab from Kasur was kidnapped, raped, murdered and dumped near garbage heap earlier this week. The incident sparked widespread protests in the country, demanding justice for the minor rape victim.
The girl’s rape and murder sparked widespread outrage as the people from all social strata deplored the incident as horrific, demanding #JusticeForZainab.
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while chairing a meeting, announced a Rs 10 million reward for those who would help identify the killer of Zainab.
The protests turned violent on Wednesday when police personnel opened fire on hundreds of protesters, outside the DC Office in Kasur, killing two people.
