Two suspects confess to killing PTI lawmaker Soran Singh

Six suspects were presented at a local court in Peshawar hearing murder case of Soran Singh, special assistant to chief minister KP on minorities affairs.

Gunmen on motorbikes had stopped Sardar Soran Singh’s car in Buner district, some 160 kilometres (100 miles) of Peshawar, on Friday (April 22) evening and opened fire, killing him on the spot.

Suspects Alam and Behroz confessed of killing Singh during the hearing, while four others didn’t confess the crime.

The duo who admitted the offence, told the court that they killed Sooran Singh on orders of Baldev Kumar – PTI’s district councilor in Swat.

DPO Buner Khalid Hamdani said the hired assassins were given Rs 1 million to kill the PTI lawmaker.

Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, KP Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar, ministers and people from all walks of life had attended the last rites of Mr Singh in his ancestral village.

Mr Khattak also visited the residence of Mr Singh where he offered his condolences to the bereaved family and elders of the Sikh community.

Imran Khan, whose Pakistan-Tehreek Insaf (PTI) party rules the KP province, had urged his government to set up an inquiry commission.
