Two suspected robbers killed in Karachi shootout

KARACHI: Police claimed to have shot dead two alleged robbers in a shootout within the remits of Site Super Highway police station late Monday night, ARY News reported.

The police said the robbers were busy looting citizens in the area, when the police personnel acting on a tip-off arrived at the spot. The robbers opened fire at policemen. In the retaliatory fire, both the robbers were killed.

The police said they have recovered illegal arms and snatched valuables from their possession.

Meanwhile, the police arrested two alleged robbers within the jurisdiction of Awami Colony police station. The suspects were looting a citizen when the police party arrived at the place timely and apprehended them, the police said. Illegal weapons and looted cash and other valuables were recovered from the possession of the accused.

A day before, police had claimed to have killed a suspected robber in a shootout in the city’s Lines Area on Sunday night.

According to SSP Dr Irfan Baloch, the police received a call that three robbers were busy looting citizens within the limits of Brigade police station. Acting swiftly, when the police reached there, the robbers tried to escape, defying the orders to surrender.  They opened fire on the police party and when the police returned fire, one was killed while two others managed to escape from the spot, he added.
