MQM London leaders sent to Karachi jail, two bailed in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The bail application of two leaders of the Mutahida Quami Movement London was approved in Hyderabad, where three others were sent to Central Jail in Karachi 

A Special Judge approved the bail application of Momin Khan and Zafar Rajput. They were arrested on Saturday after a case was registered against him at the Hali Road police station along with several others for sedition and raising anti-state slogans.

Another three leaders of the MQM London Professor Hassan Zafar Arif , Kunwar Khalid Younis and Amjadullah Khan were sent to Central Jail Karachi for thirty days after the were arrested on Saturday and detained under the under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO)

Sindh Police have also registered two cases against them at the Artillety Maidan police station in Karachi for sedition and raising anti-state slogans.

On Saturday, several other leaders of the London faction of the MQM which has shown loyalty to Altaf Hussain were arrested by the Pakistan Rangers Sindh outside the Karachi Press Club.

Professor Hassan Zafar Arif was taken into custody when he arrived to address a press conference. Later Kunwar Khalid Younis was also arrested from near the Governor House.

Another leader Amjadullah Khan was later arrested after hours-long stay inside the KPC where he sought to avoid arrest, but eventually gave in after the paramilitary surrounded the building and reportedly threatened to storm inside and arrest him.

It is pertinent mentioned that MQM London is being operated from British capital,  while another faction, MQM-Pakistan is currently working under Farooq Sattar.

MQM London offices razed in Hyderabad 

Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Sunday stepped up efforts against the Mutahida Quami Movement London and razed four offices of the party in Hyrderabad which were allegedly set up illegally on public property.

The offices were located in Zeelpak Colony in SITE area, and inside a public park in Liaquat Ashraf Colony. Two other sector offices were razed near the Talak Charhi area and the American Quarters.

A large contingent of the Rangers was deployed after which municipal officers razed the offices with the assistance of heavy machinery.

Rangers also visited two offices of the MQM located at Liberty roundabout and Masaan Road with municipal officers and the Assistant Commissioner.

It was mutually decided that instead of razing them, the offices should be vacated soon and handed to government officials. The paramilitary also sealed a office of the MQM located in a school in Kalimori area.
