Trump should tender apology to Pakistan over his disparaging remarks, says PM

KARACHI: Calling for an apology over US President Donald Trump’s humiliating remarks, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the president should retract his ‘New Year’ tweet and tender an apology.

In an interview to a private TV channel, he said that Pakistan could not be blamed for attacks inside Afghanistan.

“Pakistan hosted three million refugees and bore the brunt of Afghan issue,” the premier said.

He reiterated that war is not a solution to the Afghan issue. “The issue can be resolve through dialogue,” he said, adding, Pakistan is all set to act as a mediator.

“Rehabilitation of Afghanistan refugees is linked with the issues inside Afghanistan which should be resolved earnestly,” PM Abbasi said.

He said the fencing of Pak-Afghan border will continue.

Moreover, the premier asserted that the democratic system in Pakistan is prevailing and all institutions have their specific roles and rights.
