KARACHI: Chairman Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan Farooq Sattar on Friday said participation of huge crowd in the public rally organised by the party validated the measures taken on August 23, ARY News reported.
“I pay tribute to the residents of Karachi for holding such a phenomenal gathering. Today’s rally is bigger than the rallies held by MQM in the recent past,” he said while addressing a huge public gathering at Nishtar Park in Karachi. He also announced to hold a public gathering in Hyderabad next month.
The MQM-Pakistan chief demanded from the government to devolve powers to the local government institutions or make 20 administrative units out of Karachi city.
He said census in 1998 showed population of Karachi to be 9.8 million, while in actual it was over 10 million. Today’s population of Karachi is even more than several countries, he said.
“Next chief minister would be of MQM, given the correct number of population is given,” he said.
