ARY News’ ‘Zimmedaur Kaun’ team along with Punjab Food Authority (PFA) nabbed a number of fake (synthetic) milk suppliers from Pattoki.

Interestingly, the criminals were creating fake milk, a white liquid from vegetable fat and were caught in the act by the Zimmedar Kaun team. The makers (who did not own even a single cow or buffalo) claimed that they supply milk to Lahore, Punjab’s capital city.
As the ARY News team caught one of the makers in the act, he said that he was about to start making fake milk when the team arrived.
The PFA team checked about 6000 litres of milk and discarded about 1200 litres of milk after identifying it as synthetic milk.
This is how synthetic milk is made: Vegetable refined oil is taken in a wide mouthed container along with a suitable emulsifier and thoroughly mixed till it becomes a thick white paste. Water is slowly added to the paste until the density of the liquid is similar to that of milk.
Natural milk is defined as the whole, fresh, clean, lacteal secretion obtained by the complete milking of one or more healthy milch animals, excluding that obtained within 15 days before or 5 days after calving or such periods as may be necessary to render the milk practically colostrum free, and containing the minimum prescribed percentages of milk fat and milk solids not fat.
