Suspected robber shot dead in Karachi’s Liaquatabad

KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead in an unsuccessful robbery bid in Liaquatabad, ARY News reported on Monday.

Police said the killed suspect along with his accomplice attempted to loot a citizen who opened fire at one of them. As a result, one suspect was killed while the other managed to flee from the crime scene.

The killed suspect was identified as Amir.

Upon being informed of the incident, a police team reached the site and shifted the body to a hospital for medic-legal formalities.

Separately, a person was shot at and injured while resisting a robbery bid in Korangi Industrial Area. Police said the injured has been shifted to a hospital for medical attention.

It is noteworthy that an army official was shot dead in a robbery incident on main M.A. Jinnah Road earlier this month.

According to police, Major Saqib Iqbal, 30, was killed by armed pillion riders near Dilpasand Sweets.

A police official said Major Iqbal was on a motorbike when two suspects riding a motorbike intercepted him and tried to snatch cash which he drew from the ATM of a bank on M.A. Jinnah Road. The suspects opened fire when the major put up resistance and rode away.

The army officer sustained a single bullet wound in the head and died on the spot.
