KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan on Tuesday said the state should inquire whether the cases registered against Farooq Sattar were genuine or not.
“First the state should inquire whether FIRs lodged against Farooq Sattar and hundreds of other MQM workers were based on truth or falsity,” he said, while talking to media, in response to the returning officer’s rejecting Farooq Sattar’s nomination papers.
A returning officer has rejected nomination papers filed by Farooq Sattar for Karachi’s NA-245 constituency for concealing two cases in his papers in which he has been declared an absconder.
“FIRs are lodged even against me which are totally false and were lodged at a time when I was not present in the country,” Izhar said.
He suggested to punish those who have lodged false FIRs.
The senior MQM leader also said his party leaders will emerge victorious in all their constituencies in the general elections.
He said a smear campaign was being run against them jointly by political parties and their voters were very much cognizant of that.
