SSP seeks rickshaw driver’s help in 19-month-old boy death case

KARACHI: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Karachi, Peer Muhammad Shah on Thursday met the family of 19-month-old baby who was killed allegedly in a police fire at the University Road two days ago, ARY News reported.

Shah quoted parents as saying the firing was intense and it resultantly claimed life of the toddler.

“We have to see whom police was chasing when the incident occurred,” the SSP remarked.

He urged the rickshaw driver to turn up and help police in this regard. SSP Shah said Sachal Police told him they were chasing down armed suspects on a tip-off.

A 19-month-old boy, Ahsan had sustained a bullet in his chest reportedly fired from a police weapon resulting in his death here on Tuesday.

According to his father Kashif, he was traveling in a rickshaw along with his child when he saw police personnel firing on the University Road. At the same moment, Kashif said, he saw blood on the clothes of his son and he rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced his child dead.

He alleged that his son died of the bullet fired by the policemen. Kashif said that when he reached at the hospital to get his son treated, policemen from Sachal Police Station arrived there too.
