BAHAWALPUR: Amir Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Siraj ul Haq on Saturday raised his voice in favour of ‘Bahawalpur Province’ in a public gathering here at hockey ground, ARY New reported.
He was addressing a public gathering when he lambasted Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) for exploiting public mandate for plundering the public wealth and not addressing the issues being faced by the masses.
“Bahawalpur province is the right of the people reside in South Punjab”, Siraj said.
“In either tenures of PPP and PML-N, people of Southern Punjab have been deprived by their fundamental rights”, added Amir JI.
Shedding light on poor infrastructure in South Punjab, Siraj urged government to grant land ownership rights to the people of Cholistan.
POWER LOAD-SHEDDING
Pointing out the countrywide issue being faced by public, Siraj said that government claimed to eliminate power load-shedding but the facts were contrary to the claims made.
While stating that co-chairman PPP Asif Ali Zardari concerns for his party activists arrest in Lahore, he said that Sindh government had detained dozens of JI activists for bringing public issue into notice.Siraj queried provincial government of Sindh the reasons for arresting JI activists in Karachi including JI Amir Karachi Hafiz Naeem and JI Deputy Amir Karachi Asadullah Bhutto.
“Party activists arrested in Karachi for raising their concerns for public issue”, he said.
He further said that Karachi was once known to be the ‘City of Light’ where now due to power load-shedding darkness prevails.
It is pertinent to mention that JI Karachi chief had announced to march towards Shahrah-e-Faisal yesterday (Friday) to protest against the power supply firm K-Electric’s alleged over-billing. More than a dozen other workers were also arrested from outside Jamaat e Islami headquarters, Idara Noor-e-Haq, just before they were set to leave for the protest point.
