SHEIKHUPURA: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) shot dead six suspected militants involved in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park explosion in an encounter bear Sheikhupura Bypass, ARY News reported.
According to CTD officials, two terrorists — involved in the blast — were being taken for the recovery of weapons when they were ambushed by members of a banned organization.
The anti-terror squad carried out retaliatory fire and gunned down six terrorists. Three of them managed to escape.
CTD stated the militants who escaped from captivity will be arrested soon.
Explosive material, weapons and maps on sensitive installments were recovered from the slain terrorists.
A suicide bomber detonated himself at Lahore’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park on the day of Easter on 27th March 2016, killing at least 70 people and injuring more than 300.
