RAWALPINDI: President of the Awami Muslim League (AML), Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, has advised former president Pervez Musharraf not to return to Pakistan.
Talking to the media after offering Eid prayers in Rawalpindi, Rasheed said it was his free advice to Musharraf that he should not return to the country. Commenting on the general elections 2018, the AML chief said that he prays that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan is elected.
Rasheed expressed his optimism of securing at least 0.1 million votes in the 2018 elections. He claimed that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was punished for money laundering. He added, “I am not a money launderer.”
The Election Commission of Pakistan has set the July 25 as date for holding general elections across the country.
The June 19 will be the last date for filing appeals against rejection or acceptance of nomination papers. According to the schedule, the list of validly nominated candidates will be published on June 27, while the last date for withdrawal of candidature will be June 28.
The ECP will allocate election symbols to candidates on June 29 and the final list of the contesting candidates will be displayed on the same day.
