LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif and maverick party leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan held a meeting here to discuss political matters, ARY News reported.
The meeting came a day after the former interior minister strongly reacted to Maryam Nawaz’s statement with regard to awarding a party ticket to him for the upcoming general elections.
Sources say Nisar complained to the PML-N chief about the statements of party leaders about him. The latter assured him of addressing his reservations and asked him to desist from going public with his grievance.
Both the leaders discussed various political matters, including the chief minister’s recent visits to Peshawar and Karachi.
A day earlier, the former minister dismissed rumours that he would join the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).
In response to a statement of Maryam Nawaz that her father would decide on whether to award a party ticket to him or not, he said: “Who asked for the ticket.”
He said he never asked for a party ticket in his 35-year long political career and he did not intend to do so in the future.
Nisar said he had faith in Almighty Allah and the people of his constituency and that he never sought ticket from anyone.
