GUJRAT: After registration of FIR against unknown driver and unidentified vehicle, the uncle of Nawaz Sharif’s convoy victim has filed an application in Lala Musa police station to incorporate BMW car bearing number plate ‘SS-875’ into investigation under section 216 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
An 11-year-old boy named Hamid, a resident of Lala Musa, was crushed by one of the vehicles in Nawaz Sharif’s motorcade yesterday.
Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) senior leader and Railways Minister Saad Rafique dubbed the departed boy as ‘first martyr of democracy’. However, his absence in funeral rites became conspicuous.
Political leaders from various parties attended the funeral prayers of fatal crash victim. Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) worker Tanvir Chaudhry said his party owns the deceased and stands by the bereaved family.
It merits to mention here that one of the vehicles in Sharif’s ‘homecoming’ rally ran over the boy yesterday, injuring him critically who succumbed to his injuries later during treatment.
The boy laid to rest in presence of large number of people at a local cemetery on GT Road.
Earlier, an FIR against unidentified driver and vehicle was registered at the area’s police station. However, the eye witnesses and relatives claimed that the vehicle bearing number plate ‘SS-875’ hit the boy.
“The vehicle’s driver did not stop over seeing boy coming in front of it and ran over him,” a resident told media.
Sharif’s convoy did not stop after the incident and kept moving ahead, seemingly either unaware or unaffected by the fatal accident.
The apathy infuriated the local residents who gathered on GT Road and staged a protest against Sharif, chanting anti-government slogans.
