Sharif, Zardari, Imran lack capacity to lead country, says Gulalai

LAHORE: Estranged Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MNA Ayesha Gulalai says ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, PPP co-chairperson Asif Zardari and PTI chief Imran Khan are not capable of leading the country out of current crisis.

Addressing a presser at Lahore Press Club, she said the current government should resign and a national government of talented people from across political and social divide be installed to find a solution to the problems facing the country.

She announced to contest next election against PTI chief Imran Khan and clarified she did not desire any party’s ticket for the purpose.

Gulalai said she will announce her future line of action in the coming days.

She said the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) government was not allowed to work because of sit-ins and called for a legislation to get rid of sit-in politics.

The MNA stressed the need for bringing reforms in the electoral system of the country, playing down the demand for snap elections.

Touching upon current affairs, she said people are committing suicides because of poverty and unemployment.

She said the sit-in at Faizabad Interchange was for a good reason, but blocking roads and creating trouble for denizens were uncalled for.

Blocking roads and troubling people is against the teachings of Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), she said and called for a probe into the now-withdrawn change in the Khatam-e-Nabuwwat oath for electoral candidates to ascertain the people involved in the act.

She lauded the role of the army in bringing a peaceful end to the sit-in. Instead of lauding his services, some people were berating the army chief, she added.
