Shahid Afridi joins Karachi Kings as president

KARACHI: Pakistan’s star cricketer Shahid Khan Afridi has joined Karachi Kings, the most popular team of Pakistan Super League, as its president, ARY News reported.

“Delighted! honoured to welcome true Pakistani cricketing legend and superstar Shahid Afridi as President Karachi Kings and to ARY family!” owner Karachi Kings and  CEO ARY Digital Network Salman Iqbal tweeted on Friday.

 

Earlier this month, the all-rounder who rules millions of hearts home and abroad left Javed Afridi owned Peshawar Zalmi over what he said “personal reasons”.

Talking to ARY News after the development, CEO ARY Digital Network Salman Iqbal congratulated Shahid Afridi and said that the team will also pick the all-rounder in the PSL draft to make him play for the team.

“It is a big news both for PSL and Karachi Kings, Afridi is a resident of Karachi and he has indeed joined his city and his team,” said Salman Iqbal.

Answering a question about Afridi’s plans as president of the team, the Karachi Kings owner said that he had a detailed discussion with the star all-rounder about his plans for the team and the plans will be announced soon.
