Shahbaz inaugurates 2nd unit of Sahiwal Coal Power Project

SAHIWAL: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated the second unit of Sahiwal Coal Power Project having a capacity of 660 megawatt in Sahiwal on Monday.

“The completion of the 1,320 MW project in a record time of 22 months is a great achievement,” he said.

The power plant will be Pakistan’s first supercritical coal power plant, and will consist of two 660-megawatt plants for a combined capacity of 1,320 MW.

Shahbaz Sharif said it was the first power project completed under China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

He said the project was an example of hard work, sincerity and transparency.

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong, Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali and senior officials of Chinese companies were also present on the occasion.
