LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill has moved Lahore High Court (LHC) against Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), seeking removal of his name from exit control list (ECL), ARY News reported on Thursday.
Director-General (DG) FIA and Punjab Inspector-General of police (IGP) have been made respondents in the petition.
Shahbaz Gill, in the petition, stated that the Ministry of Interior had put his name on exit control list (ECL) on October 17, 2022. “The petitioner is not involved in any illegal activities”, it stated, terming the move to include his name on ECL ‘illegal’.
It pointed out that the Lahore High Court (LHC) had allowed the petitioner to travel abroad, but FIA and IG Punjab were not following the court’s orders.
He demanded action against the two respondents for not implementing the court’s orders, and sought permission for travelling abroad.
It is pertinent to mention here that Shahbaz Gill was barred from flying from the Lahore airport to Saudi Arabia by the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA).
the FIA immigration wing stopped Shahbaz Gill, claiming that his name was still on the exit control list (ECL).
It is worth mentioning here that the Lahore High Court (LHC) allowed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill on March 29 to travel to the United States (US) for four weeks.
