‘There will be a sixth team in the next edition of PSL’

KARACHI: Pakistan Super League chairman Najam Sethi on Monday announced that the next edition of the Pakistan Super League will see the inclusion of a sixth team in the Twenty20 league.

Speaking exclusively to ARY News, Sethi said that the PSL management is allowed inclusion of a sixth team after two years and now PSL 2018 will see a sixth team contesting for the trophy.

He said that this will increase the number of matches, expenses, but revenues will still stay the same unless they bring whole or part of it to Pakistan. He also expressed hope that the final of the next PSL will be held in Karachi.

He also said that he will make his best efforts to host more matches within the country.

Sethi appeared delighted over the successful hosting of the PSL final in Lahore, and said it delivered a message to the world about Pakistan, that good things happen here and the incidents of terrorism do not define us.

He said that he had received messages from around the world that the event had showcased Pakistan. “Those Pakistanis abroad who felt embarrassed over bomb blasts here are now very happy,” he said.

“Lahore is safe, Karachi is safe, and the business community does not need to hold meetings in Dubai anymore.”

He said that there were risks and that political forces tried to use the opportunity for their purposes, but he was convinced that the event will be successfully held in Lahore.
