War veteran sepoy Maqbool Hussain laid to rest with full military honours

RAWALPINDI: The funeral prayers of 1965 war veteran Sepoy Maqbool were offered on Wednesday at the Chaklala Garrison.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and a large number of officers and soldiers attended the prayers and paid respect to the national hero.

The deceased was laid to rest with full military honour at his native village Narian in Azad Kashmir. The prayers in his hometown were attended by President Azad Kashmir Masood Khan, GOC Murree, senior civil and military officials, and a large number of locals.

Sepoy Maqbool Hussain breathed his last on Tuesday night at Combined Military Hospital Attock.

The brave soldier got injured and was taken prisoner by the Indian Army during 1965 war. He spent forty years in Indian jails and was released in 2005.

He was awarded the Sitara-e-Jurat in 2009. The army chief had expressed grief on his demise.
