Senate defers resolution against ex-CJ Iftikhar

The resolution was moved by People’s Party Senator Farhatullah Babar. In his resolution, he said giving additional perks and privileges to Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary is a violation of the code of conduct.

Farhatullah Babar, in his resolution, has demanded to take appropriate measures to devise rules and regulations to implement the order of the Islamabad High Court for withdrawal of additional perks and privileges from the former Chief Justice.

Leader of the House Raja Zafarul Haq while opposing

the resolution said the matter of Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary has been in the court. He said the government has filed an Intra-Court appeal for review of the high court decision which is still in pending.

Following the statement, the the resolution deferred till the court orders.

Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) staged walkout from the house to protest against the government for providing additional perks and privileges to the former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
