BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Wednesday urged Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) states to make joint efforts to meet the prevailing challenges and achieve sustainable development in the region.
Addressing a two-day SCO Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting here, he said the SCO is an important platform that links the regional countries. “Pakistan is determined to implement the SCO charter,” he assured.
FM Qureshi said China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project will help further promote links in the region.
Denouncing terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, he stressed the need for addressing the root causes of the scourge. He said Pakistan is amongst the few countries which successfully combated terrorism.
The foreign minister said Pakistan is ready to share its experience and expertise with the SCO states to counter terrorism.

About peace efforts in Afghanistan, Qureshi said it is a matter of satisfaction that the Afghan peace process has started, adding Pakistan will continue facilitating the Afghan peace process owned and led by the Afghan people.
He said conflict resolution is important for fostering peace and stability in the South Asian region. He added Pakistan has given a message of peace by opening the Kartarpur Corridor for the Sikh community.
The foreign minister said the country has practically reinforced the Shanghai spirit through Kartarpur corridor.
