LAHORE: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday sought land record of Malik Mansha Ali Khokhar alias Mansha Bomb from Lahore Development Authority (LDA), revenue department and district government.
According to the details, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, hearing a suo motu case against Mansha Bomb, who is accused of land grabbing worth billions of rupees, directed the concerned departments to submit detailed report about land owned by Mansha.
He maintained that no serious efforts were made for urbanization and asked that under which law ‘patwar circle’ was working in Punjab. The CJP also asked about the role of revenue department.
During the hearing, Lahore deputy commissioner told the apex court that as per record Mansha had purchased 32 Kanal land in 1992 which he sold later. He added that the LDA had yet to hand over to the petitioner the land recovered from Mansha.
It is pertinent to mention here that Mansha Bomb was arrested from the Supreme Court premises soon after he surfaced there to seek protective bail on October 15, however, it was reported that he surrendered himself to the top courtMansha wanted to meet Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, however the latter was stated to be busy in a meeting. The suspect was transferred to the Secretariat Police Station.
During the hearing of a case, the Supreme Court was informed that Mansha was a notorious land grabber involved in encroachment of lands in Lahore’s Johar Town.
The police had been making efforts to arrest him, but he had gone into hiding.
A police official had told the judges that Mansha and his sons were involved in grabbing lands in Johar Town. Over 70 cases have been registered against the land grabber, he added.
