SC orders crackdown on sheesha bars countrywide

According to details, a three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, of the apex court heard a case against illegal sheesha cafes in the country.

The order, directing all the four provincial governments for the crackdown, read that such bars were also selling drugs, yet local administrations did not seem to be willing for an action against them.

The SC also inquired the advocate generals from all provincial governments about the implementation of government’s earlier orders of a ban on cigarette smoking at public places.

The answer came that all the respective administrations have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the order.

The apex court directed all provincial governments to strictly implement anti-smoking laws and to submit a detailed report in SC after a comprehensive actions is taken against sheesha bars.
