Russia to hold joint military drills with Pakistan in 2017

ISLAMABAD: Russian ground forces will hold joint military drills with forces of Pakistan next year.  

The Russian Defense Ministry, during a press briefing in Moscow, said joint military drills will be aimed to further improve combat operation preparedness against terrorism, mountain training, and actions of formations at different zones.

Pakistani and Russian armies held the first ever joint military exercises called “Friendship 2016” in September this year. A contingent of more than 200 Russian and Pakistani ground forces had participated in the joint exercise between the two militaries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday said that Russia has shown keen interest to boost its relations with Pakistan.

Russia said that it will also organise military drills with  Collective Security Treaty Organization countries which included six post Soviet states belonging to the Commonwealth of Independent States.
