KARACHI: A senior citizen was killed during an exchange of fire between armed robbers and police in New Karachi area of the city, ARY News reported.
According to the law enforcement agency, a police team spotted four robbers snatching valuables from people in New Karachi area and arrested one of them. Upon the arrest of their accomplice, the other criminals opened fire upon the police.
In the ensuing encounter, a rickshaw driver named Nafees Khan Baloch was killed.
New Karachi police say the rickshaw driver died of firing by the armed robbers but the robber in police custody told media men that the senior citizen was killed by police personnel’s firing.
Inspector General Sindh Amjad Saleemi has taken notice of the incident and has formed an inquiry team under DIG West.
The deceased senior citizen’s son told media that Nafees Khan was a retired solider who preferred to drive rickshaw than sitting at home.
