Resolution for Hazara province to be tabled in Parliament: minister

He made the announcement while addressing a public meeting in Dasu.

“We are in contact with other parties in National Assembly to table a resolution seeking status of province for Hazara division of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa,” the federal minister said.

He expressed his optimism that the resolution will be passed with majority of votes in the lower house of the Parliament.

The minister said, “If more provinces are created, most of the issues and problems of people can be resolved at their doorsteps.”

Yousuf said that the region of Kohistan is important because of the future power needs of the country. The minister went on to say that top priority has been given to the completion of Diamer-Basha hydropower project and Dasu hydropower project, being built in Kohistan, by the government.

He said that in order to include more women beneficiaries in the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), a fresh survey will be carried out. He added that he has talked to Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar for the construction of a passport office in Kohistan.

“Kohistanis are going to Battagram for getting passports,” said the minister.

He said, “I know Kohistan is a backward district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but government has been working on a comprehensive plan to put it on path of the prosperity and development.”
