Rehman Malik dies at 70 in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Former Interior Minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Rehman Malik on Wednesday passed away at the age of 70 after suffering from COVID-19, ARY NEWS reported.

According to details, Senator Rehman Malik was being treated at a private hospital in Islamabad, where he also remained on the ventilator

after contracting COVID-19. He breathed his last on Wednesday morning.

He remained the interior minister of the country during the PPP tenure from 2008 to 2013.


The brother of the deceased leader, Khalid Malik, said that the funeral prayers would be offered on Thursday without mentioning the timing of it.

“Some of our relatives will be attending the funeral prayers from abroad and therefore we have not yet decided the timing of the funeral prayers,” he said.

Meanwhile, condolences have poured in from across the political spectrum over the demise of Rehman Malik.
