ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesman Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday heavily criticised journalist Reham Khan over her upcoming book and termed it an “exercise to demolish only and real opposition” PTI, ARY News reported.
The development comes after PTI chief Imran Khan’s ex-wife Reham Khan, who is expected to release her biography before July 25 general elections, had a verbal fight with PTI loyalist actor Hamza Ali Abbasi who claimed to have read the manuscript of the book.
The fight between Hamza and Reham was still not over when Fawad Chaudhry tweeted that PTI has “solid evidence” to prove Reham Khan was meeting PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif through former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal, adding that the whole book is an exercise to demolish the real opposition party in Pakistan.
“The timing of this book’s release is crucial and it is aimed at defaming PTI, I will call it pre-poll rigging. They (PML-N) have a history of defaming their political opponents,” Fawad Chauhdry later told ARY News.
The PTI spokesman claimed that Reham Khan’s book will be “full of lies” about Imran Khan and will glorify PML-N leaders, Shehbaz and Nawaz Sharif.
Earlier, Hamza Ali Abbasi leveled similar allegations against Reham and even shared some screenshots claiming they are of conversation between Ahsan Iqbal and Reham Khan.
Hamza, who also does a talk show on a private news channel, started the Twitter trend #RehamOnPMLNAgenda.
Reham Khan, on the other hand, claimed that Hamza threatened her with dire consequences and has done that many times in the past too.
Reham married Imran Khan in January 2015 in a ceremony at PTI chief’s Islamabad home, but was divorced ten months later. Her book is expected to reveal some details about the days she spent with PTI chief.
