Huge contingents of paramilitary force surrounded the area around the party headquarters, confiscated communication equipment and started a search operation. Female law enforcers also accompanied Rangers personnel during the raid.
Rangers spokesman, in a statement, urged the people to inform the force about those who attacked ARY News office and facilitated the MQM chief’s anti-Pakistan speech in the day.
On the other hand, police sealed party’s Gulshan-i-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar sector offices.
Earlier, Rangers personnel also took MQM leaders Farooq Sattar, Amir Liaquat Hussain, Khawaja Izharul Hassan, Arshad Vohra and Sajid Ahmed into custody.
Farooq Sattar, accompanied by Khawaja Izharul Hassan and Arshad Vohra arrived at KPC allegedly to explain MQM’s viewpoint on attack on ARY News office but Rangers personnel took the trio in their custody.
Amir Liaquat Hussain, who is also a television personality, was taken into custody from his office on I.I. Chundrigar Road.
Sources say Farooq Sattar and Khawaja Izharu Hassan were later released after interrogation but other leaders Kunwar Naveed Jameel and Qamar Mansoor were arrested in separate raids.
Reports suggest that MQM chief also urged his party members to raise anti-Pakistan slogans during party’s hunger strike today.
