One Rangers official killed, three others injured in Lyari attack

KARACHI: One Sindh Rangers official was killed and three others were injured in an attack here in Lyari on Tuesday, ARY News reported.

Terrorists attacked the Rangers personnel, while they were on a routine patrol in Ali Muhammad Mohalla, Zikri Para, with grenade and automated weapons. One terrorist was also killed in exchange of fire.

Subsequent to the incident, additional Rangers and police forces reached the scene and launched a search operation after cordoning off the area.

“A grenade, three awan bombs, one 9mm pistol and magazines were recovered from the dead terrorist. Identification process of the assailant is underway,” said a press release issued by Sindh Rangers.

The martyred Rangers man was identified as Sepoy Fawad. However, the identities of the suspected terrorists killed in the shootout could not be ascertained immediately.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal condemned the attack on the security personnel and directed the IG and DIG concerned to furnish a detailed inquiry report about the incident and ensuing shootout.
