Rana Sanaullah urges CJP to take notice of Imran Khan’s claim

LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah on Wednesday urged Chief Justice of Pakistan to taken notices of a statement by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had offered him ten billion rupees to silence him over the Panama leaks issues.

The law minister said that CJP should taken suo moto notice of Imran Khan’s claim, summon him and ask him who offered him the amount. “I demand that Imran Khan clarify his statement, and name who brought him the offer,” he said.

He also urged CJP to investigate the matter, summon Imran Khan and ask him to disclose who made him the offer on behalf of the prime minister.

He further said that PTI public gathering on Friday in Islamabad is an attempt to pressurise the courts, and attempt to influence the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to probe the prime minister and his family over the Panama leaks as directed in the verdict issued on April 20.

Imran Khan had on Tuesday revealed that he was offered ten billion rupees to keep mum over the Panama leaks issue. He said that if Nawaz Sharif can offer him such an exorbitant amount, then it could only be imagined what he could offer to other agencies probing the matter.

The PTI chairman has vowed not to settle down until PM Sharif resigns and has called for country-wide protests and sit-ins. He said that party will attempt to pressurise investigation agencies to not side with the PM’s family, and conduct an impartial probe in the matter.
