Railway employees’ pension stopped by banks

ISLAMABAD: Banks have stopped the pensions of more than 17000 retired railway employees, ARY News reported on Wednesday

As per details, the pension of the retired railway employees was stopped as they did not submit the required documents.

Pakistan Railways spokesperson said that the employees have not submitted the no-marriage and life certificate and did not verify their biometrics. He urged the employees to submit their documents to restore their pensions. 

According to the State Bank of Pakistan, the documents must be submitted twice a year in March and September. 

Earlier, the railway employees staged a protest due to non-payment of salaries in the month of Ramadan.

In a statement, the workers who gathered at the Pakistan Railways’ Locomotive Shed said that they had not received their salaries from February and demanded the immediate disbursement of their pay.

Divisional Superintendent (DS) Railway had assured about the disbursement of the salaries, but the salaries were not disbursed yet.

The employees said that those who were putting their lives at risk to restore the railway tracks were in a state of despair. Due to the strike, the departure of trains faced delays from Karachi.
