While addressing a hurriedly called press conference, he said that they will not revert to the politics of the 1990s. He said that Nawaz Sharif had attacked the house of former President Farooq Leghari but they will never attack the residence of even their staunch enemy.
He said that while the present government has attacked and violated the sanctity of their homes, they will not resort to such heavy-handed tactics. He was referring to the the Model Town incident in which 14 people were killed and more than a hundred were injured after the Police attempted to remove a barrier outside the secretariat of their party.
He said that it would give an opportunity to repeat the incident of Model Town, which may instigate their workers to retaliate and lead to bloodshed in the country. He termed the incident as one of the worst forms of state-sponsored terrorism.
Qadri said that even though his followers had tried to persuade him to announce the march to Raiwind, he has decided against it in the capacity as the leader of the party. “Attacking house is the tradition of the Sharif brothers, and we will not be a part of it,” he remained adamant.
On the contrary Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has maintained that they would continue the march to Raiwind, but has shown flexibility to change the date after consultation. However, he insisted that the march will be held before the Islamic month of Muharram.
