LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) retired Capt Arif Nawaz Khan directed all regional police officers (RPOs), capital city police officers (CCPOs), city police officers (CPOs) and district police officers (DPOs) to review the security measures in their respective areas in the wake of the terrorist attack on Pearl Continental Hotel in Gwadar.
As per details, the IGP issued a notification for revision of security arrangements in the province.
It stated that the Lahore CCPO, all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs should ensure the “hotel eye system” was operational, while no one should be allowed to stay in hotels and guest houses without possessing national identification cards.
He also directed officers to visit A-Category mosques, imambargahs and other sensitive places, besides paying surprise visits to public areas for security checks.
Intra-provincial and intra-district checkposts should more effectively monitor and check vehicles.
Additional force should be stationed at sensitive worship places, especially during Fajr and Taraveeh prayers. Whereas, working hours of patrolling forces, including Dolphin, Peru and Quick Response Force, should be long in the areas around worship places.
Earlier on Saturday, three terrorists had stormed a five star hotel in Gwadar city of Balochistan province. A clearance operation by the security forces resulted in safe evacuation of all the guests in the establishment.
