Punjab government decides to buy new vehicles

LAHORE: A summary to buy 77 new vehicles for the Punjab government officials has been sent to the Finance ministry after initial approval from Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Tuesday.

Sources privy to the development said the CM has asked the concerned department to appear before the austerity committee for the issuance of funds.

Summary sent to the finance department seeks release of funds to buy  new vehicles for the parliamentary secretaries and chairmen of the various standing committees.

Earlier, Federal Minister for Information, Fawad Chaudhry and Spokesperson of CM Punjab Dr Shehbaz Gill in their separate statements had said, several departments asked for the provision of new vehicles, however the demand was rejected, owing to present economic condition and in line with the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s austerity drive.

It needs to be noted here that the Punjab Assembly is under fire for unanimously passing a bill seeking a drastic increase in the MPs’ salaries and allowances. Prime Minister Imran Khan also rebuked the act after which the bill was taken back.

Chief  Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar also held meeting with PM Khan in Islamabad to brief about him on the aforesaid matter.
