Punjab Education Dept takes on role of thought police?

Signed by a section officer, the letter says that “it has been pointed by various security agencies that Research Topics being given to the students in the universities of the Punjab were anti-Pakistan and anti-cultural in nature”.

It goes on to say that the “Competent Authority has taken a serious notice of this situation” and

“desired that the Academia” should play a “constructive role in nurturing nationalism”. It says further that the management of the universities sensitize students to “avoid inculcation of anti-cultural and anti-Pakistan” feelings by giving appropriate topics for debate and research.
