Punjab Assembly: Resolution demands resignation of CM Punjab

LAHORE: A resolution has been submitted at the Punjab Assembly, seeking resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif over his ‘failure to control violence’ during Lahore incident, ARY News reported Tuesday.

The resolution terms Shahbaz responsible for the incident that claimed 14 lives who were supporters and activists of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).

It says that PAT workers were tortured during the Model Town incident, when police attempted to remove barriers outside Mihajul Quran Secretariat, prompting clash between the two sides.

Opposition parties comprising Pakistan Tehreek Insaf, Pakistan Muslim League-Q and Pakistan People’s Party jointly submitted the resolution.

The parties demanded Shahbaz to accept responsibility of the Lahore incident and tender resignation. However, it is yet to be seen whether the house, which is dominated by PML-N,
