ISLAMABAD: Senior leaders of the ruling PTI have proposed a fact-finding inquiry to ascertain the causes behind the party’s dismal performance in the recently held local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), ARY News reported, citing sources.
The informed sources said the PTI leaders put forward a proposal to hold a fact-finding probe to bring to light the reasons that led to the party’s defeat in Sunday’s first phase of LG polls and take action against those responsible for it.

However, they added, Prime Minister Imran Khan will make a final decision about the inquiry.
The PTI will make decisions about the second phase of local bodies elections in the province in light of the findings of the inquiry, the sources said.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Khan admitted that the PTI paid the price for mistakes it made in the first phase of local government elections.

“PTI made mistakes in 1st phase of KP LG elections & paid the price. Wrong candidate selection was a major cause,” Prime Minister Khan tweeted. “From now on I will personally be overseeing PTI’s LG election strategy in 2nd phase of KP LG elections & LG elections across Pak. InshaAllah PTI will come out stronger.”
