LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Naeemul Haq, has said the country saw massive corruption during Asif Ali Zardari’s tenure, ‘and soon the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader is going to face the accountability’, ARY News reported.
In a statement, Haq termed Zardari ‘a fake leader’, saying the PPP leader would be answerable to public for corruption during his reign of power.
The senior PTI leader issued a statement after Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairperson Zardari launched an outburst against Prime Minister Imran Khan and his government, claiming there were no political prisoners during the PPP government. “Neither we kept the political people in prison, nor we thought to conduct an accountability…we transferred all the powers to the parliament.”
Responding to Zardari’s diatribe, Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda said his party would confine the PPP to a lane in the next general elections.
He said he had sought more funds as the country was in need to create more jails.
Former president Asif Ali Zardari on December 2 said PM Imran Khan was unlikely to stay longer in power as he was victimising his political rivals in the name of accountability.
Addressing a gathering in Sadiqabad, Zardari took aim at Imran Khan, saying that the premier could “neither handle the economy nor the government”.
“I don’t think the captain’s government will last long,” said the Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman. “If you don’t deliver, you will have to go home.
