Imran invokes ‘Dawn Leaks’ to take swipe at FM over India ties statement

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Thursday revived the ‘Dawn Leaks’ saga after Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif’s statement in connection with friendly ties with India.

Taking to twitter, Khan said that the foreign minister’s statement is evident that Dawn Leaks was a deliberate attempt by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to target Pakistan Army at a time when it is fighting enemies on multiple fronts.

Coming down hard on former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other PML-N leaders, the PTI chief said that Sharifs and their cronies are desperate to appease Indo-US lobby and interest as their properties are stashed away in the West.

“Their continuous targeting of our armed forces continues (till) today as part of this Indo-US appeasement. No concern of Pak (Pakistanis) lives sacrificed,” Khan tweeted on his official account (@ImranKhanPTI).

Deploring Khawaja Asif’s comments over owning militant groups, Khan said such remarks from a foreign minister would undermine Pakistan security.

“With such a Foreign Minister, who needs enemies,” he said.

It merits to mention here that foreign minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Wednesday had said that Nawaz Sharif paid a political price for peace efforts with India and was termed ‘Modi’s friend’ and ‘traitor’ by some political quarters in Pakistan.

“Nawaz Sharif staked his political career in achieving or stabilizing our relations with India. I won’t say that it can be pleasant or lovey-dovey relationship overnight but stabilizing the relations,” he said while speaking at Asia Society seminar in New York.

“Sharif was called Modi’s friend and traitor by our political opponents in Pakistan,” said Asif.
